Single-Cell

Precast Concrete Box Culverts (RCBC/DRCBC) are reinforced concrete box-shaped elements prefabricated using concrete and reinforcement, with single or multiple layers of steel reinforcement in the walls. Construction methods include trenching and jacking. They are primarily used for urban utility tunnels, cable tunnels, water storage tanks, underpasses, and drainage networks. Advantages over traditional cast-in-place concrete include: suitability for both trench and jacking construction; factory-controlled quality; ability to construct under wet conditions without dewatering; fast on-site installation, often without concrete foundation, enabling quick backfill and traffic restoration; and flexible rubber gasket joints providing good water tightness and tolerance to settlement. Thus, they offer significant advantages in quality assurance, shortened, cost reduction, and energy efficiency, making them the preferred method for building underground utility tunnels.
